Seydel - The Future of the 'Renaissance'

On 14 August 1997, the first of an extraordinary line of musical instruments was delivered to it's buyer.
The future of Chromatic Harmonicas had arrived, and it was called Renaissance!

Co-designed by two people, then living across the Atlantic Ocean from each other, this instrument's name was fitting, as it was a brand new design, created entirely from the ground up, with the only non-original aspect being the installation of commercially produced reedplates inside the gleaming, silver-plated marvel.
Classical chromatic harmonicist Douglas Tate, of the United Kingdom, joined forces with diatonic player Bobbie Giordano, of the United States, to literally reinvent the chromatic harmonica, combining his musical and engineering knowledge with her artistic and innovative skills, and a mutual desire to understand and advance the musicality and construction of the instrument.

The glorious result is the Renaissance.

As its name suggests, it truly is a rebirth of the chromatic harmonica, created with an aim toward providing unsurpassed quality of sound, playability, reliability, durability and beauty.
The instrument's achievement of all these properties has been recognized by harmonica enthusiasts across the globe, and in a very short time, has come to be touted by many as the premier chromatic harmonica in the world.

It is in this energized atmosphere that the late Douglas Tate has reached agreement with C.A.Seydel Söhne/Germany.
This mutual agreement results in the company's commitment to honor and adhere to every high standard of the original instrument, only changing it to improve it, and to continue production of the Renaissance henceforth under the proud banner of C. A. SEYDEL SÖHNE. Douglas Tate's legacy lives on through the Seydel Renaissance.
