Chris Nacy

Chris is the harmonica player for West Virginia blues singer/guitarist phenomenon Izzy Stetar.  Together they make up the acoustic blues duo “Izzy and Chris.

In May of 2007, Izzy & Chris signed a recording contract with 80/20 Music Entertainment and released their first cd titled "Preachin The Blues Vol 1 which was recorded at the Grammy Award winning studio Audible Images. Preachin’ the Blues went to #17 on the Roots Music Report Blues Chart and Blues Revue Magazine chose the song Steady Rollin’ Daddy for their Blues Revue Sampler disc. In 2008 Izzy and Chris together won solo//duo honors at the Appalachian Blues Competition in Charleston WV which earned them a spot in the International Blues Challenge. 



Izzy and Chris were also nominated for a 2009 United States Artist Fellowship and a $50,000 grant.   In Oct 2010 they again won the Appalachian Blues Competition solo/duo division and went on to be 2011 International Blues Competition solo/duo finalists in Memphis TN.   As international Blues Competition finalists they were asked to represent the United States at the 2011 Himalayan Blues Festival in India and Nepal. Chris also shares his love of harmonica as a Blues In The School Instructor teaching children harmonica and the history of blues music.

Izzy and Chirs continue to perform clubs and festival from Memphis to Kathmandu.
In addition they have performed with or supported Hubert Sumlin, Phil Wiggins, The Nighthawks, Watermelon Slim, Buckwheat Zydeco, Buddy Guy, Keb Mo, Charlie Musslewhite, Johnny Winter, Indigenous , Robert Cray, Hakensaw Boys, Robin Trower, The Outlaws, Jason Ricci,  Pat Benatar and Eddie Money.

Chris discovered Seydel harmonicas during the recording of their first CD. “The quality and tone of these harmonicas are truly amazing.  After purchasing my first Solist Pro I immediately began replacing all my harps with Seydel and now exclusively  use 1847s."   Although Chris’ first love is the blues, it’s his ability to play many styles of music that’s makes him the hardest working harmonica player on the Eastern Shore of Virginia where he now resides.

Er ist der Mundharmonika-Spieler des Sängers und Gitarristen Izzy Stetar aus West Virginia. Zusammen sind sie das Duo “Izzy and Chris”.

Obwohl sie erst etwa zwei Jahre zusammen spielen haben sie sich schon einen guten regionalen und nationalen Ruf erworben.

So waren sie Solo/Duo Gewinner des "Appalachian Blues contest" (2007) wodurch sie die Möglichkeit bekamen bei der "2008 International Blues Challenge" in Memphis TN auf zu treten.

Im April 2008 brachten sie ihre erste CD heraus: "Preachn The Blues Volume 1", erschienen beim 80/20 Entertainment Record Label . Seitdem wurde das Duo auf vielen nationalen Blues Festivals als Hauptact gebucht.

Chris entdeckte SEYDEL Mundharmonikas während der Aufnahmen für die erste CD: "Die Tonqualität dieser Mundharmonikas ist wiklich unglaublich. Nachdem ich meine erste Solist Pro gekauft hatte, fing ich an nach und nach alle meine Mundharmonikas durch SEYDEL-Harps zu ersetzen."

Obwohl Chris' erste Liebe dem Blues gilt, kann er auch viele andere Musikstile auf dem Instrument umsetzen, so dass er bald zu einm der am meisten arbeitenden Mundharmonika-Spieler in der Region um Pittburgh wurde. Zusätzlich zu seinem Akkustik-Duo spielt Chris mit zwei erfolgreichen lokalen Bands ("Honky tonk band 706 Union" und in der "Blue Faze Band").

Im Juli 2009 erreichte ihre CD Preachin The Blues Vol 1 den 17. Platz in den Roots Music Blues Charts. 2010 gewannen Izzy und Chris den "Appalachian Blues Wettbewerb" und im Februar 2011 waren sie unter den acht Solo/Duo Finalisten bei der "International Blues Challenge" in Memphis TN.
