Thomas Puéchavy

Thomas started harmonica in his late teens after listening to the first recordings of Little Walter with Muddy Waters and a friend play Oh Susanna in the the high school yard.
Luckily, in his bedroom drawer there was a harp, a gift from a grandfather, who played chromatic harp in France in dance bands in the 30’s. With friends he started playing blues covers pretty badly, hence deciding to stick to mostly original material.
After a trip through western Africa and southern U.S with Moriarty band member Arthur, playing with Ali Farka Touré one dusty evening and recording dozens of musicians, the return to France was dedicated to play and playing in a small cellar in central Paris. Those were the years of smoky gigs in cafés and passing the hat.
Around 2004, along with Moriarty, Thomas was the harp in 'The Love Bandits', a short lived but glorious blues punk project, with songs like Tell me You Love Me or She Love Sex.
The breakthrough came in 2007 with Moriarty’s first national release « Gee Whiz but this is a lonesome town ». That year the band drove forty thousand kilometers and ended up by selling two hundred thousand albums. Moriarty has now released three albums, a soundtrack to a animated movie, collaborated with swiss cajuns Mama Rosin, malian n’goni player Moriba Koïta, singer Emily Loizeau and maloya band from Reunion Island Christine Salem, travelled over twenty-five countries on all continents and founded their own label Air Rytmo.
