My journey through the blues began in 1981 in the middle of the desert, in of all places, Phoenix, Arizona. I was in a little club called “The Bird of Paradise” when I met, and later became friends with, a Bluesman by the name of Hans Olson. The experience changed my life forever. I had never heard anyone play the harp or sing the blues like him; I became hooked on the music and the instrument. I picked up the harmonica in 1982 and haven't put it down since.

I moved back east to Ohio in 1986 and played in various blues bands in the area for the next fifteen years until forming The Highway 61 Band in 2001, based in Akron, Ohio.

I’ve been very fortunate to have shared the stage with some of the very best bands in the world, such as my very good friends Mark Wenner and The Nighthawks, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Rod Piazza, and fellow Seydel endorsee >James Cotton

My most important influences have been Hans Olson who is probably the best and fastest "in the rack" harp player in the world. As well as the late great William Clarke, who had incomparable tone and one of the best voices in the blues genre.

I’ve also been influenced by James "Icepick" Harman who is one of the most humorous and insightful bluesmen I’ve ever had the opportunity to sit down and speak with. Kim Wilson, whose professionalism as a performer always sets new standards for the rest of us.

>Mark Hummel, who has always been one of the nicest guys on the blues circuit. The late Gary Primich, who I only met once, but I took something away from that gig that I will never forget.

Rick Estrin, whose stage presence, sense of humor, and harp playing are unique. And finally, Mark Wenner and all of The Nighthawks who have supported us thru all of our musical endeavors.

I am honored and humbled to be selected as a SEYDEL endorsee by harpmasters Rupert Oysler and Bertram Becher, I hope to have a long and prosperous relationship with SEYDEL and my 1847 SILVER !
