#harmonica_of_the_month_4: BIG SIX circular G - Closed. Needed 20 orders by April 30, 2015* to start production. Current quantity sold sold: 32

This is #4 from this year's series of 12 Harmonicas of the Month!

Please share if you know a person who might be interested.

The BIG SIX circular G...the pocket-sized multi-talent

Improvisation, melodies and chords - everything is possible on this versatile six-holer!

The BIG SIX circular comes in six different colours - lava, black, yello, oliv, sky or white - your choice!

  • stainless steel reeds and rivets
  • polymer comb in 6 colours
  • very stable stainless steel coverplates
  • lanyard (included) can be attached to the comb
  • versatile circular tuning note layout!

The Circular Tuning (also called Spiral or Melody King tuning) is one of the most logical, intuitive and underestimated harmonica tunings.

The major scale can be played simply by alternating draws and blows starting in hole #2.

Blues/Jazz/Pop improvisation in second position major or third position minor works very similar to a regular Richter-tuned diatonic. Due to the tonal layout all draw notes can be bent, so juicy Blues licks remain playable - fast Country or Irish Folk melodies can be played very well in second position (major scale without bending) but as well in first position (major scale with only one draw bend, the easy -4').

On the BIG SIX circular in G you can play easily in 2nd G-major (feels very familiar to usual 2nd position playing) or E-minor (feels like playing in 3rd position on a Richter).

You will be amazed about the chordal abilities of this little six-hole harmonica!

Chords on the BIG SIX circular G:

This little multi-talent is also suited to playing accompaniment. The circular note layout naturally yields in many useful diatonic chords out of the G-major family. In many pieces and musical styles you would need G maj (G B D = tonic, I), C maj (C E G = sub-dominant, IV) and D maj (D F# A = dominant, V) - often relative minor chord of these three chords are used within the same piece.

On the BIG SIX circular you can easily play E min (E G B), A min (A C E) and B min (B D F#).

Most of the chords available can be "spiced-up" with an additional note on the right side: minor chords get the important minor7ths. Spiced-up Major chords are: dominant-7th (blow: D F# A C) and the jazzy sounding major7 tonic chord (draw: G B D F#).

This tuning is well suited for playing different styles of music: Blues, Folk, Irish Folk, Cajun and Blues in major and minor - listen to the sound examples.
